The problem of having a homeless owner is that one doesn't know which way one's fortunes will swing. Days when he has work means we get tasty take-aways and he's in a good mood, patting us and playing with us. Other days he drowns his sorrows drinking sake and then he gets violent, beating and threatening us. This is why I have a gammy leg and one blind eye. I also had endless litters of puppies which he gave away to his friends. Six of them remained and he named them after super-express trains; Nozomi, Hikari, Kodama etc: We lived on a exclusive patch (by homeless' s standards) by a river under a bridge. But as I say, his kind of life is never secure. Maybe he had to move on, maybe he was ill, we don't know but wherever he was going he wouldn't be taking us with him. If we hadn't come to ARK we would have certainly been taken to the city's gas chambers.
