This virus is bacterial and similar to ICH as it infects the liver and the kidneys. However,   the disease is manly spread through contact with infected urine and in most cases this virus once caught can be fatal or can cause permanent kidney damage, which can be a disability and may lead to death later in life. The most important thing to know about this virus is that it can be passed on to humans. The only way to prevent it from spreading is vaccinating your dog.
