Kennel cough commonly occurs when dogs are brought together in groups i.e. dog shows, kennels, boarding centres and grooming shops. Kennel cough is not usually life threatening but it causes extreme discomfort. Symptoms are: harsh dry coughing and possible nasal discharge. The condition may last several weeks and may be fatal if not treated with basic antibiotics as it can lead to severe pneumonia. A vaccine called Bordetella can be given either as an injectable form or administered nasally, which is much more effective. Please note that you must give at least a week too ten days after vaccination before bringing your dog to a places mentioned above.
