Adoption of Animals not Sheltered at ARK.

Here at ARK, we shelter and care for over 500 animals. Unfortunately, this means we can’t rescue all the animals we are asked to take in. So, we have started this page to help members of the community find homes for animals that need rehoming and are not sheltered at ARK.

If you would like to place an animal on our website for rehoming, or you would like to adopt an animal placed here, please read the following. We are grateful for your support.

Placing a photo of your animal on Adoption
of Animals not Sheltered at ARK.

Please email or post a photo of your animal, a profile (sex, age, weight, personality, distinguishing characteristics, reaction to other dogs/children/adults, date of last vaccination, spayed/neutered, medical conditions) and the reason you cannot keep the animal. Please include your address and phone number.

We will put the animal on our homepage and when someone calls us to adopt the animal, we will go through the same procedures as for animals at ARK − all potential owners will fill out an adoption questionnaire and we will look at it. Once those procedures have been successfully completed, we will put them in touch with you.

To avoid increasing the number of unwanted and unloved litters, we ask that your animal be spayed or neutered before we put them up for adoption on our homepage.

Also, in addition to placing an adoption ad on our homepage, we recommend you make posters and take them to your local vet and supermarkets.

If you find a home for your animal with someone other than ARK, please let us know as soon as possible.

Every day, ARK receives phone calls from owners who can no longer care for their pets. Some of the common reasons given are “we are moving house”, or “I’m allergic”, but these are problems that could have been avoided with a little foresight.

At ARK, we aim to avoid this happening by carefully matching pets with owners for the best relationship possible, so we ask you to fill out an adoption questionnaire.[64KB]

Once you have filled in the questionnaire, please return it to us by fax or post.

ARK does not receive any fee for rehoming animals not sheltered at ARK. Please consult directly with the owner/temporary foster person.
